Can I join?
This program is open to all athletes 6th-12th grades who are motivated to have fun and improve their fitness as well as work on their ski specific technique for skate and classic. Sessions will be divided by program type and/or ability levels to ensure appropriate workouts while at the same time maintaining a fun team environment.
What is the difference between Devo and Comp programs?
Devo - U12 (Grades 5-8th)
The Junior Development Program’s goal is to prepare young athletes for the cross country ski season through a variety of summer activities that will improve their strength, agility, endurance and ski technique. As athletes advance beyond our Devo program, the Comp Team provides them with the necessary coaching and tools to pursue high-level competition.
Comp - U16 and up (Grades 9-12th)
The Competition Team will work with coaches to develop an appropriate training schedule tailored to fit each athlete's needs. The program is designed to develop aerobic fitness, ski technique, and prepare skiers for the upcoming race season. Goals at this level may include competing at the Jr. National Championships and pursuing participation at the college level.
Transportation Athletes will meet the TCCSEA van (limited seating available) at Tahoe XC and will be transported to workouts. The Head Coach will coordinate carpooling arrangements with parents. Locations range from the Tahoe City, West Shore and Incline Areas plus the Truckee area for combined workouts with other junior teams.
Equipment In general athletes will need trail running shoes, all weather clothing, water bottle holder, snacks, helmet, gloves, and pads (if needed). Winter equipment will include classic waxable skis, skate skis, poles and boots.
Dues and Registration Program dues include professional coaching, some transportation by TCCSEA, roller ski equipment for use during summer and fall training sessions (skis and poles), bright safety roller skiing Tech T, team uniform plus fun and challenging workouts!
